The State of the HOA

Here’s an article about how the state of the economy has affected HOAs.

They’re holding off on things that don’t have to be done right away, he says. Maybe a high-end association might spend a little less on landscaping. Other associations have put off long-term capital improvement projects such as repaving, significant work on the pool that doesn’t have to be done now, or new playground equipment. The thinking is that maybe what you’ve got is good enough, so you can wait a few years. Anything they spend money on, they can always reconsider. Do we have to spend this much money this year?
