I can’t wait till the potluck this year! It was alot of fun last year. I thought the slide was a great idea, maybe we can do that again. I think we’ll try to bring quesadilla’s again.

  2. robtax says:

I too am looking forward to it. I know we’ll bring something. We may want to consider a different location for the slide given the issues we had last year.

  3. laura kohr says:

It might be a good idea to hand out invites, just because there are some people who don’t use the main gate at all and might not have an idea that it’s going to happen.

  4. chris says:

@Laura- Good point! I’ll be more than happy to help pass them out as we did last year. We can use the invitation that is at the top of this page. Any volunteers to get them printed?!

@Robert- Yes, the slide on a slope was a little awkward ;) We could look into getting a different style as well. One with a larger footprint (more stable)… it could be a combination of slide and obstacle course.

If everyone could leave a comment with the dish they’d like to bring, I’ll add it to the top of this page so everyone can see what everyone else is bringing.

    I’ll make fruit salad!

  5. Margo says:

I will make enchiladas. I can also help pass out the flyers.

  6. laura kohr says:

I’d like to help pass out flyers, and we’ll bring quesadilla’s.

  7. webmaster says:

Haha – it’d be nice if could spell “Halloween” (the picture at the top). LOL

I wanted to know what everyone’s thoughts are about the Halloween Potluck… Are you going? Are you going to bring a dish?! Should we start at 4pm or earlier/later?

Last year we had a great turn out – let’s make it happen again :)

  8. Mark says:

I really had a good time last year, too, and I’m looking forward to this year’s event. I will probably be bringing the grill to make more burgers (or for those who wish to cook something of their own to do so).

I think the 4PM start was good – it allowed us to get set up and ready…most folks seemed to show up around 5 if I remember correctly.

Do we have suggestions for a new location and style for the jumper? Post your thoughts! ;)

Regarding fliers, we considered putting a posting in the new announcement board, but with both the HOA meetings happening, plus the info about the blog, it would be crowded and difficult to read with so many letters posted there. Instead, I think we might consider using fliers again in addition to a few banners. The banners, if I can get them, will probably hang on each gate (entrance gate on both the west and north gates), and they will contain a direction to people to check this blog for info on the details of the potluck/party.

If we have people who want to design a flier, though, I can reproduce them…all I need is a sample – either the file or an original piece of art – and I’ll make sure we have copies to hand out. Just post here and I’ll contact you. :)

  9. Rosa says:

Count with my family we will be there. I’ll make a pasta salad and bring, chips and drinks . If there is anything else we can help with let us know, this will be our first holloween pot luck. 4 pm is good.

  10. Laura says:

Just wondering if this thing is still going to happen – I’ve been telling everyone I meet about it, and wondering if we are still going to pass out flyers. I am more than willing to get out there on a weekend and pass out flyers!

  11. Margo says:

I will have to talk to Chris and I am sure he will ask the board. I think the lack of interest in the party from the community really impacts if we should have this or not. Last year I placed signs on the mail boxes and to my understanding it is illegal to do so. I guess flyer would be the next best thing.

  12. Mark says:

It is tough to tell what the interest level really is since we have so many who don’t post on the blog… Fliers will definitely help, and if anyone has a design idea, I’d say go for it. I’m willing to help pass them out. In order to get maximum interest, they should probably be passed out no later than this Saturday afternoon so people can plan for it. If we can get something ready for a Friday afternoon/evening walk through the community, that would be even better…

On another “advertising” front, I am getting banners made to hang on both the entry gates. They will advertise the date and time, and if I have the room, the blog address. Though they are expensive, we can reuse them next year (and only pay a fee to modify the date).

  13. Laura says:

that’s good to hear – if we do pass out flyers, I am available on Saturday afternoon after 2, however, I am unavailable on Friday night.

  14. Margo says:

Nice to hear there are a few people wanting to do the party.;) Thank you. I can not wait for the HOA meeting to hear all the other people moan about not having community and so on. How can we have community when people do not want to be active. I can print flyers tomorrow and pass out Friday AM. I will just print the one Chris made on here and put on doors. I might even tape a few to the mail boxes.

  15. laura kohr says:

@ margo – I can help you pass out flyers friday morning, would love to get out for a bit I believe Chris has my email address if you want to contact me!

  16. chris says:

Been tied up with work stuff… I’m going to spend some time on the blog tonight… I’ll correct the spelling on the invite at the top of this page and get it ready for print (2 or 3 per page). I wonder if the HOA can pay/pitch in for invites.. ? I’ll try to find out :) If not, I can print some at work. Can anyone else print a few copies?

Let’s shoot for Saturday and/or Sunday – weekends might work out better for some. It would be nice if we could get 1 home from each block to hit their block! VOLUNTEERS?!

    Looking forward to it!

  17. chris says:

I just read all the comments again – Mark had offered to print… I’ll email you Mark! Thanks!!

  18. Laura says:

as I said, I will be more than happy to volunteer!! yay!!! just let me know when and where!

  19. Jenn says:

We will be there, just came on here to get an idea of what to bring and it looks like anything would be safe still haha. I didn’t think to check earlier as I figured you would get a huge response like last year. Thoughts for next year, I agree with the person that said it may be a little late but if the kids come in their costume they can just go straight to trick or treating so that is a toss up. I didn’t like the banner on the drive in gates because it looked like it was open to the public…. Anyways, we will see you there and will bring something :)

  20. Julia says:

We’ll be there, sorry haven’t posted earlier! I’ll bring cookies and something else…

  21. webmaster says:

Margo and I picked up plates, cups, forks, napkins and (6) 2 liter bottles of soda… we are also bringing nachos!

Jenn/Julia, Glad to hear you are going to make it :)
